Our invitation for you to explore is not limited to our campsite: we are located in Tuscany, one of the richest regions in Italy in terms of history, nature and good tasteLe Pianacce Camping Village recommends many excursions and itineraries in our hinterland, to let you experience a truly unparalleled holiday!

Sample the excellent wines of the hills, discover the cities of art with a new eye and venture into the splendour of landscapes that will capture your heart. There is also plenty of relaxation on the nearby coastline, each one unique and spectacular.

These are our tips for you!

BOLGHERI

Built around its medieval castle, this village in the countryside offers not only beautiful landscapes but also incomparable tastes. Its famous cypress-lined avenue is spectacular and its wines are incomparable. This is the starting point for your exploration of the Wine and Olive Oil Route along the Etruscan Coast. Your food and wine journey will pass through the many wineries and estates nestled in the Mediterranean maquis. We advise you not to skip a tasting of the DOC wine to which the village gives its name: Bolgheri Sassicaia.

CHIANTI

It does not need an introduction, but we want to do it anyway: gentle hills between Florence, Siena and Arezzo, with the ancient black rooster still standing as a symbol of the wine of the Chianti valleys. With its red wine and strong character, it will amaze you in combination with traditional Tuscan dishes such as ribollita, chicken livers and tripe…. but also with its evidence from the ancients, in particular the Etruscans, and illustrious artists and architects from every era.

MAREMMA

Rich in evocative and very diverse landscapes, the Maremma is a treasure trove of marvels, a veritable green lung. Rich in oak forests in the hinterland, but also in its typical Mediterranean maquis that leads to the coastline of white sands and clear sea, bordered by thick green pine forests. Uncover the secrets of the many natural oases in this unique area with a leisurely bike ride, horseback riding or trekking being the best way to do so! Try the Bolgheri Faunal Oasis, suitable for everyone with its level paths and many species of animals and birds: it was here that the stork, which had not nested in Maremma for 200 years, returned in 2008!

BEACH

Stretching all the way to the sea: there are many different and unique coastlines. Castiglioncello combines sand and stones, with beautiful seabed’s to be explored, either by diving or just with a mask and snorkel! Vada, on the other hand, is renowned for its fine, light-coloured sand, with free beaches and lifeguards. Marina di Donoratico is just a few steps away with its thick pine forest, but Baratti and Populonia are also worth a visit for the more adventurous: their almost unspoilt landscapes are far from the crowds. At the Marina di Bibbona discover the Tomboli beach!

CASTAGNETO CARDUCCI

You can reach the village in just 20 minutes on foot directly from our campsite! Castagneto Carducci is one of the most welcoming and pleasant medieval villages in Tuscany to visit. The Della Gherardesca Castle, built around the year 1000, stands out in its historic centre. Today it is privately owned but can be visited by those who love ancient legends. Let yourself be tempted by the ancient craft shops you will find along its alleys, or by its trattorias. It owes its name to the poet Giosuè Carducci, who spent part of his life here, enchanted by its landscape.

SIENA AND FLORENCE

These two cradles of Italian culture are equally fascinating and remarkable. Siena is a great medieval city, not just a village: it is the birthplace of Santa Caterina, whose magnificent sanctuary survives, and hosts its famous Palio each year, as well as splendid artistic testimonies such as its cathedral. Florence needs no great introduction: the cradle of the Renaissance, it is an essential stop for lovers of beauty and art with the Uffizi and Palazzo Vecchio, just to name two of Italy’s most famous sights.
